Amman, Jordan is such an incredible place. We went there recently to visit some of our dear friends, well family really… and it was truly such a wonderful experience. Our friends chose to live there to bring the truth and grace of Jesus to the people of the Middle East. I realize this can be a very controversial and confronting choice to some people. I know that as Americans we have a lot of fear about the Middle East and anything/ everything that has to do with it. Let me just say that I had an amazing experience there and felt really welcomed by the people of Jordan. Yes, they stare a lot and are honestly just curious as to what the heck we were doing there…. And because they assume all American women are hussies like Paris Hilton….so we got a lot of stares…but nothing too uncomfortable. I love to travel because I always learn so much about things I would never experience. I am so thankful we were able to go and experience the Middle Eastern culture and feel their hospitality and kindness. Yes it is an EXTREMLY different culture and you truly feel FOREIGN…and I wouldn’t recommend frolicking around in daisy dukes and spaghetti straps!!!! but it was humbling and inspiring to experience a little glimpse of their point of view.
We probably would have never gone there if it hadn’t been for our friends, but I am glad we went. We spent so much time eating yummy food and watching movies, laughing A LOT and playing games. Is there anything better than endless hang time with best friends?!! It was wonderful! So sweet! We went primarily because my closest friend had her first baby!!! We planned the trip so we would hopefully be there for the birth! And praise God we were! Little Rivers Isaiah came two days before we left. It was so beautiful to watch such a close friend fall so deeply and instantly in love with her baby. It was seriously so amazing to watch her be gripped by this little dude!!! He was so sweet and precious! Babies, Babies everywhere! :)
We had such a wonderful time and have a new affection for the Middle East. And we miss our friends more than ever!:) It was so inspiring to be with such an incredible group of people who are so insanely passionate, kind, and compassionate! We love the Jordan team!
